Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
The district has had a very good start to the 2021/2022 school year. It was wonderful to see the excited faces of the children and the excited faces of the staff.
As you are aware, students and drivers are required to wear face coverings while riding on school buses as mandated by the CDC. At this time, the CDC has recommended the use of face coverings in schools, however it is still each individual’s choice.
Last year we were able to successfully provide in-person instruction, and this success was due to several important factors, including:
- Parents/guardians closely monitored their children’s health and did not send a child to school when the child showed any signs of illness.
- Parents who became aware that a family member may have been exposed to the virus contacted their school, shared the information, and kept their children home as a precaution.
- The district conducted thorough contact tracing with the assistance of the DOH.
These efforts were crucial in limiting the number of positive cases within our schools over the course of the last school-year, allowing us to successfully provide in-person instruction.
As positive cases are again increasing in Tioga County, and in order to continue to provide in-person instruction, it is imperative that the cooperation experienced last year continues this year. It is important that you continue to keep children home if experiencing any symptoms of illness and alert us of any possible exposures to positive cases.
We are so happy to have our students back in school and want to continue to provide in-person instruction in a safe and healthy environment.
Thank you for supporting the education of all students in the district during these challenging times. We truly appreciate your continued cooperation and assistance this school-year.
