The Right to Bear Arms
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The right emphasized in the Second Amendment is the right for citizens to
own guns. The greatest debate is whether or not private citizens have the
right to own guns according to this Amendment. The Amendment states that
people have the right to own guns for the purpose of maintaining a militia.
The US currently has a national militia, the National Guard. Please navigate
