Williamson High School strives to offer a unique and diverse educational experience where students are empowered to become productive citizens with a rural advantage. Our middle school students benefit from a school within a school model. Being the largest attendance area, Williamson provides a plethora of rigorous academic and extra-curricular opportunities for its students in a well-structured environment. The district provides multiple avenues for students to be able to access and work with technology and the most up-to-date programs.
Part of the strong academic curriculum offered at Williamson includes several ACE course offerings in engineering, composition, statistics, chemistry, biology, government, history, music, and calculus. These courses allow students to take advantage of affordable college credits through Corning Community College that transfer to many institutions of higher learning. Williamson also offers honors English in grades 9-12.
Williamson provides various vocational opportunities that include pre-engineering courses, elementary classroom experience through our child development courses, wood and metal shop, small engine repair, accounting, and personal finance. The physical education department utilizes a fully equipped fitness center that provides both weight training and aerobic workouts. Williamson offers a robotics course that incorporates design, development, and programming in a STEM based environment. The robotics course also makes use of 3D replicators, so students can design and create various robotic components. An exciting addition to the course is the incorporation of drone technology.
The Student Services Department is available to all students, faculty, staff, and parents at Williamson High School. Learning support teachers primarily provide academic support and accommodations to eligible students in the general education setting and may also team-teach in select academic courses. Williamson is also home to the district’s middle and secondary life skills, secondary autistic, secondary emotional support, and multiple disabilities programs which are designed to provide eligible students with functional academic instruction and experiences along with direct instruction and practice for the development of improved daily living skills. Related service providers, including school psychologists, social workers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists are also available.
Williamson possesses a strong fine arts department that includes Spanish, band, jazz band, marching band, chorus, select chorus, drama, and a variety of art courses. Along with strong academics, Williamson offers boys’ and girls’ soccer, volleyball, football, golf, boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling, tennis, track and field, cross country, and competitive spirit. Williamson also provides a number of clubs and organizations such as FBLA, National Honor Society, Ski Club, Battle of the Books, Summer Book Club, Williamson Environmental Service Organization, Game Club, History Club, and Student Council. Finally, we are proud that our seniors provide in excess of 3000 hours of community service every year.
